Five Creative Experiences

Each offering opens a different doorway into Creative Sanctuary.

Some begin with meditation. Some begin with an image, a story, a poem or something from nature. Some invite movement and metaphor. Others turn towards stillness and the centre.

Each has a clear framework, but there is no prescribed creative outcome. You don't need to know what you are going to make. You only need to begin.

01 — ARRIVE IN THE PRESENT

Introduction to Meditation & Mindfulness-Based Art Therapy

Slow down and discover what happens when you bring your full attention into the present moment.

This session begins with gentle meditation and breathing, creating a transition away from everyday busyness towards a quieter awareness of the here and now.

Using graphite and soft pastels, you'll explore mark-making and colour. Each mark leads to the next. A colour changes. Something unexpected happens. There's no expectation to produce a particular image — simply follow the creative process and see what emerges.

Making becomes a form of meditation, and you discover the surprising peace that comes from being fully absorbed in the moment.

02 — RECONNECT WITH JOY & VITALITY

Art & the Creative Spirit — Rediscovering Your Inner Joy

Reconnect with the parts of yourself that know joy.

In this contemplative session, you'll explore your own inner sanctuary through guided imagery, colour and spontaneous creation. Using oil pastels, music and storytelling, you'll create a space where curiosity and play can flourish.

There's no pressure to produce something beautiful — the invitation is simply to explore what brings you alive, what makes you curious, what feels like joy.

03 — GIVE FORM TO WHAT YOU CARRY

Art for Healing — To Grieve, To Create, To New Recognitions

Sometimes what we carry is too big for words.

In this gentle session, you'll explore grief, loss and transformation through watercolour, inks, image-making, poetry and creative writing. You might begin with an image that leads to words, or words that lead back to an image. There's no right way — just the space to express what's inside and discover what wants to emerge.

By giving form to what you carry, something shifts. New possibilities become visible.

04 — DISCOVER MOVEMENT & INNER RESOURCES

The Creative Journey — The Hero/Heroine's Inner Path

Every life is a journey with its own rhythm and movement.

In this session, you'll explore your own story through the stages of a hero's journey: the call, the adventure, the obstacles, the discovery, and what you bring back.

Using tactile materials — clay, tissue paper, leather, fabric and string — you'll give form to different stages of your path. You might discover unexpected resources, reframe obstacles as teachers, or recognize the progress you've already made. By the end, you'll have a tangible representation of your journey and a new way of seeing where you're headed.

05 — COME HOME TO YOUR CENTRE

Journey to the Heart — Meditation & Mandala Making

Find your centre.

The mandala has been used for thousands of years as a path to wholeness and inner peace. In this contemplative session, you'll move through meditation, visualisation and image-making to discover your own personal mandala.

Using the five elements — Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Ether — as inspiration, you'll create a circular form that represents balance, wholeness and what's sacred to you.

The process is meditative and grounding. The result is something beautiful you can return to whenever you need to feel centred and at peace.

A Space to Explore

Creative Sanctuary offerings are intentionally open-ended. You may begin with a meditation, a simple mark, a poem, a piece of music, a guided image or an object from nature. There is no requirement to explain your work or produce something beautiful. The emphasis is on experience rather than product.

You don't need previous art experience. You don't need to know what you are doing. You only need to begin.
